of St. Philips Community Centre February News Letter On the 18th January we held a fun evening which consisted of a school style dinner and entertainment which took the form of quiz. Those attending were asked to dress in school uniform, which added to the fun. A big thank you to Geoff Brown for organising the entertainment, a good evening was had by all and we raised just over £220.00. It was also very good to see a lot of new faces and thank you to those of you who asked friends and relatives along to the evening. As previously mentioned we do have other events planned, first the candlelit supper, Janice now has the menu, cost is £10.00 a head and as usual you bring your own candles and drink. We do have to limit numbers so please if you are interested and do not want to be disappointed please book as early as possible. On the 22 March we are holding another silent auction. We have received a number of lots but would be pleased to receive anything else you might think suitable. Please contact Daphne or Pete Holland on 01622 676874. Manchester United Football Club have donated a number of items which we are sure will be of interest to those who collect football memorabilia, some of the items are limited editions and not easy to obtain. Again please let all your friends, neighbours and relatives know about this event. In May another sponsored walk is planned to take in part of the Parish boundary for Rogation Sunday, possibly rounding off the day with a B-B-Q. This should be a day for all the family and will let you have further details in the not too distant future. As I have previously mentioned, if anyone can think of future fund raising ideas or even a social evening they would like please do not hesitate to contact one of the Committee members for the Friends of St Philip's Community Centre or the Social Committee. We very much hope to hold events which will be of interest to all and to which you can invite friends, neighbours and relatives not involved with St. Philip's or All Saints. Gwen Moss, Secretary |
